What is digital printing?

Digital printing refers to various methods of printing a digital-based image directly onto fabric. Conventional screen printing requires a separate screen to be created for each color used in a design. For example, a design with 18 colors would require 18 separate screens and 18 unique colors to be mixed and matched. With digital printing, there are no screens or colors to mix. Any image you can see on a computer screen can be reproduced on fabric, just like your desktop printer prints images on paper.

Will Shannon Fabrics have a library of prints for me to choose from?

Yes, we have an extensive library of prints to choose from for custom orders. Additionally, we carry an in-stock line of digitally printed fabrics available for immediate delivery.
Does Shannon Fabrics have access to any other libraries?

Yes, Shannon Fabrics currently has licensing agreements in place with Hoffman California Fabrics. This means we have access to most designs from their collections, allowing our customers to print them directly onto plush fabric. Please note that we may require prior approval from certain independent designers who license their artwork through them.
Will Shannon Fabrics grant exclusivity on designs picked from their library?

Yes, we offer 6 months exclusivity for all orders of 250 yards or more per design/color. Reorders will extend the timeline accordingly.
Can designs from the Shannon Fabrics library be modified?
Answer
Yes, all designs in the Shannon Fabrics library can be modified and/or recolored. Depending on the extent of the work requested, additional charges may apply.
Does Shannon Fabrics offer design work, repeats or colorings?

Will Shannon Fabrics print a customer's own design?

The minimum order quantity to print a customer's custom design is 100 yards.
Pricing for custom printing is structured as follows:
- • 100 to 249 yards: $2.00 per yard plus the standard price of the fabric
- • 250+ yards: Standard price of the fabric (no printing surcharge)
Will Shannon Fabrics print less than 100 yards for custom orders?

Our minimum order quantity for any custom digital printing or special order is 100 yards.
What is the delivery/turn-around time for custom digitally printed fabric?
Answer
Estimated delivery for custom orders printed overseas is four to six weeks after the customer approves the strike-off. The turnaround time for a strike-off is approximately two weeks after the design and layout have been approved.
What do you need to print my design? Are there any design limitations?
Answer
We accept artwork in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, PDF, JPEG, TIFF, or GIF formats, with an optimal resolution of 300 DPI. When designing continuous patterns for printing, the artwork should be set up in a seamless repeat. Unlike conventional printing, however, your repeat size is not limited by the dimensions of a physical print screen. You may also print panels and other engineered layouts. If a specific panel or engineered print is narrower than the fabric width, we can enlarge the original file or extend the artwork to fit. Once we receive your final approval, we will proceed with the strike-off process.
Copyright issues

Shannon Fabrics will only print designs that it owns the copyright to or holds a license to print. When printing our customers’ designs, we require proof of authenticity and a signed Indemnity Agreement stating that the customer owns the rights to the artwork and indemnifies Shannon Fabrics, Inc. against any copyright claims.
What about color matching?

Digital printing is more of an art than a science. The color effect seen on a computer screen will not exactly match what prints onto the fabric. Although a vast number of colors can be achieved, some shades fall outside the digital color spectrum, making exact color matching difficult. Please note that there may be up to a 5% color variance from the approved strike-off.
Will Shannon Fabrics print on my base cloth?

Since your printing will be done in South Korea, we can source a similar base fabric overseas, provided it is 100% polyester. We will submit a counter-sample for your quality approval prior to printing.
Are digitally printed plush fabrics still machine washable?
Answer
Care instructions for digitally and conventionally printed Cuddle® fabrics are identical: Machine wash cold. Tumble dry low.
